Privacy Policy

Cabynet is operated by KeepFreak, LLC, a Rhode Island limited liability company ("KeepFreak," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Cabynet, why, and — just as importantly — what we've deliberately designed our systems to never be able to see.

The short version

Cabynet encrypts your files on your own device before anything leaves it. Our relay servers move encrypted data between your devices so they can stay in sync — we cannot read your filenames, your folder structure, or the contents of anything in your Cabynet. We collect the minimum account, device, and billing information needed to run the service, and we don't sell your data to anyone.

What we collect

To create an account and run the Cabynet relay, we collect:

• Account information — the email address and credentials you sign up with.
• Device information — identifiers for each Cabynet and Companion device you register, so the relay can route encrypted messages to the right devices.
• Encrypted file data, temporarily — when you share a file from a Companion device, the encrypted blob passes through our relay and is held just long enough to be delivered to your Cabynet, then swept and deleted on a rolling schedule. We never have the key to decrypt it.
• Billing information — if you subscribe, payments are handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive your subscription status and billing history, never your full card number.
• Basic technical logs — standard server logs (timestamps, IP addresses, error traces) used for debugging and abuse prevention, retained only as long as needed for those purposes.

What we don't collect

By design, Cabynet's relay is a zero-knowledge transport. We do not store, index, or have any technical ability to view:

• The contents of your files
• Your filenames or folder structure
• Any index or catalog of what's in your Cabynet

Your Cabynet's own index of its files lives only on that device. We never receive it.

How we use what we collect

• To operate the relay that syncs your devices
• To authenticate your account and devices
• To process subscription billing through Stripe
• To diagnose problems and keep the service secure and available
• To contact you about your account, such as billing or security notices

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

• Stripe, to process payments — governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
• Amazon Web Services, our infrastructure provider, which hosts the relay and the encrypted blobs passing through it.
• Law enforcement or regulators, only if we're legally compelled to — and even then, we have no plaintext file data to turn over.

Data retention

Encrypted file data held by the relay is deleted shortly after delivery to your devices, and in all cases is swept out on a rolling retention window. Account and billing records are kept for as long as your account is active, plus whatever period we're legally required to retain billing records afterward.

Your choices

You can request a copy of the account information we hold about you, or request that we delete your account and associated data, by emailing us at the address below. Deleting your account does not delete the files stored locally in your Cabynet — those remain on your own drive, under your own control, exactly as the product is designed to work.

Children's privacy

Cabynet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Cabynet evolves. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to let active users know.
